Allinanchor and Search Engine Ranking Position
I had a recent e-mail conversation with a client and he was quite upset that a copy-cat site was ranking so well.  So part of our conversation had to do with allinanchor links.  Here is an excerpt from the email below.  I have modified it to keep my clients identity secret only:

Analysis of that keyword (** Keyword Hidden to keep Client Identity secret **):

CLIENT-SITE allinanchor your ranked #18 and your actual ranking is #28.

COMPETITOR-SITE allinanchor is ranked #8 and her actual ranking is #22.

What does this say?  It says she has MORE links then you do with the anchor text equal to "**HIDDEN KEYWORD**", but that your on-page-optimization is slightly better (but still not great for that term).  How do I know? Your next difference is 10 (28-18) and hers is (22-8)=14.

Your actual rank should be almost as high as your allinanchor, if it's not close (within 10 or so) that means your ON SITE OPTIMIZATION needs some work.

Thus her higher ranking.  Having the KEYWORD in your anchor text is king.  Has been and always will be until a new unknown genius invents something better.

(You can manually do this by going to google and typing
 "allinanchor:<keyword>".

Hopefully you understand where I am coming from.  Having one way links to your site is vital to success!  Allinanchor shows keyword-rich links to your site and you can do your own analysis and see that if your allinanchor is awful, you will also most likely be ranking awful!
