While talking to one of my buddies about the recent google shakeup we got to talking about top referers and he turned me on to Trace Watch.
This tool is free and runs with PHP and MySQL. I was able to
login to my friends back-end and look around and its very
impressive. I think I will be adding this to some of my sites
soon. I am getting a little sick of using webalizer. It's a
bit bland for me.

Google in Flux for Weeks is an understatement! Here is a quote from Matt Cutts Blog:
"Finally, GoogleGuy posted yesterday or so that a new binary is also
wending it’s way from data centers like 66.102.7.x. And I wouldn’t be
surprised if a second stage of the index rolls out around this time
next week. I also wouldn’t be surprised if a third stage of the index
rolls out the week after that. I just wanted to let people know that
there’s still flux to come."
The SEO forums have been full of speculation and the best
advice I can give (and heard) is to just wait it out before going to
kill-thyself mode! Things will calm down in a few weeks and then
rationale analysis and discussion can occur.
So take a vacation from checking Google SERPs and work on your web site instead!

There is a name given, Update Jagger. If you read Matt Cutts Blog it will give you some good info on whats going on.
I also found it interesting that Google is now not returning the best results. To be tied for last place is pretty sad.

To see what is really going on with your keywords I highly recommend this tool.
That will give you your position in google and your allinanchor.
What is important to note is the allinanchor. If this value is #1
and your not #1 then check your on-site optimization. But don't
be hasty! Once you rank nicely for allinanchor, give it some
time. Say 60 days. If still not catching up, then look to
modify your page(s). You may also want to look at the data center
quick check there as well.

There have been a lot of SEO people and webmasters very worried with
what is going on with Google recently. I have been following the discussion going on in the google section at DP closely. One thing is for sure and that is google has made a big change. However, analyzing rank pulse there is little change in the 1000 keywords they track. I strongly believe caryla at mcdar.net has a good theory.
For my sites (and clients) there has been only a few hit by them and
those were sites down aggressively by my client in addition to the work
I do.
There are some who believe footer links are of no value - This is just false
There are some who believe adding links too fast will get your keywords
tanked. No proof of this as sites with really no new links also
tanked.
So there is little to no good theories other then mcdars that make sense to me. Stay tuned!
